CtK Alums in Action: DeRay Mckesson: On the Other Side of Freedom Book Tour

Join DeRay Mckesson – the internationally recognized civil rights leader and host of the podcast Pod Save the People – for a timely conversation on culture, social justice, and politics. Drawing from his own experiences as an organizer, educator, and public official, DeRay will explore the issues of the day and discuss the subtle structures and inherent biases that impact our communities. The conversation will also examine the core themes of DeRay’s upcoming first book, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF FREEDOM: The Case for Hope, a meditation on resistance, justice, and freedom, and an intimate portrait of the Black Lives Matter movement from the front lines. DeRay will be joined by special guests in each market for a live, no-holds-barred conversation about inclusion, community, and progress designed to empower a new generation of leaders. Every ticket includes a copy of ON THE OTHER SIDE OF FREEDOM by DeRay Mckesson (a $25 value).

Second Annual Cultivate The Karass Retreat

The retreat will bring together 60 leaders and civic-minded activists to celebrate Jake’s memory by lifting each other up in our work and aspirations, strengthening the personal bonds that create a foundation of trust between us, and recommitting ourselves to the pledge of living as active Americans.


SCHEDULE

The retreat will take place over the Weekend of October 14-15th, at the Airlie Hotel and Conference Center, 60 minutes outside of DC.

Friday, October 13th
Kick off Party in Washington D.C. at one of Jake's favorite establishents!

Saturday, October 14th
Retreat starts bright and early in Airlie, VA, and goes all day. Social events in the evening

Sunday, October 15th
Retreat goes for half day, ending in time for folks to get back to DC and catch evening flights if needed


COST

$350 | This registration fee covers: The conference venue, your room for Saturday night, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday, and, if you need it, transportation to and from the event.
